professor of sociology at Howard University, a founding member of Project South: Institute for the Elimination of Poverty & Genocide, and a founding member of the National Planning Committee of the United States Social Forum. She is a scholar activist working with frontline communities in struggle in Washington, DC and nationally, facilitates political and popular education in US social movement spaces and organizations, and has written extensively on race, class, gender, capitalism and the revolutionary process. She is a member of many social change organizations including League of Revolutionaries for a New America.
